Classic BMW Racecars

American road racing was born in Savannah. From the Grand Prize Race of the Automobile Club of America in 1908 to the Vanderbilt Cup Race in 1911, The Great Savannah Races all began right here in Georgia. Critz BMW is dedicated to keeping that performance-driven legacy alive with our selection of BMW M Certified models. Our team also works on the preservation of classic and antique racecars including the 1909 EMF, 1935 BMW 315 Willis Wonder, Buick Shaffer 8 Indy car and 1968 BMW 2002. When you visit, you can also see a 1965 FIAT Abarth 1000 TCR racecar and a 1951 Indy car that was once owned by Chicago mobster George Tuffanelli.

The BMW 2002 is currently in the middle of a frame-off restoration but once completed, it will be featured in the Critz BMW showroom. This impressive vehicle competed in the Campion Spark Plug Challenge in the early 1970s and in its 20 years of competition, it was featured in Daytona, Atlanta, Mid Ohio, Mid American, Talladega and more. The 2002 was most notably raced by Lyn St. James with Cliff Rickmers at Daytona.

The BMW 315, most famously driven by Ron Willis and Mike Renner, was on display here all of 2019. Now it’s in Europe for the 2020 Mille Miglia, a 1,000-mile open road endurance race. The 315 has participated in races such as the Belgium Grand Prix, French Grand Prix, BOC Prescott Hill Climb and Gosport Sprint, just to name a few. This vehicle, as well as the Buick Shaffer 8, was featured on the Discovery Channel’s Fast & Loud.
